Whether you live in Sherbrooke or are visiting it, discover the best restaurants in the city here.
Here are our favorite gourmet addresses in town.
Agustus _
The Auguste restaurant, a veritable institution of the city of Sherbrooke, is a friendly table that pays homage to the traditions and recipes of our grandmothers, but with a modern and contemporary touch. We eat very well, and this in a warm decor. It was at Le August that we met chef Danny St-Pierre, who popularized the now famous inverted poutine there. The name of the place pays homage to Augustine, Anik’s grandmother, who took over the kidneys of this restaurant which has never lost its panache since its opening in 2008.
Prank Wine
Le Vin Polisson is a wine bar that recently opened in downtown Sherbrooke. It’s also the somewhat crazy project of three young wine and food enthusiasts, who offer comforting cuisine, a short menu to share, a few tasting platters and a 100% natural wine list. Both a neighborhood restaurant, a wine bar and a gourmet landmark, Vin Polisson offers 25 seats in a setting that is both industrial and intimate.
O Deer
restaurant is a place that does not do half measures. It offers seasonal cuisine that is not lacking in panache, gourmet dishes and generous portions. Are on the menu: mac & cheese, tuna burger, and even baked beans . Le O Chevreuil showcases the best of the region’s producers, in a rustic atmosphere typical of our home.
Baumann _
The Baumann restaurant has been garnering accolades since it opened in downtown Sherbrooke in 2016. Gourmets will undoubtedly find something to enjoy here. It is a friendly table that offers a gastronomic experience, but without pretension. A tasting menu is offered in three formulas: four, five or seven courses (the total!) We are therefore entitled to a discovery experience, but adapted to our hunger of the moment.
Brussels Sprouts
This Belgian cuisine restaurant is nicknamed “Le Chou” by Sherbrooke residents. They have enjoyed dining there for over 30 years. The restaurant’s history is one of family, but also of sharing traditions. The owner family, originally from Belgium, offers comforting, hearty dishes inspired by their country of origin. The menu is a delight for local foodies, who appreciate being able to bring their own wine, an increasingly rare but still popular concept.
FoodLab Antidote
The Antidote FoodLab is, as its name suggests, a “gourmet laboratory”. The kitchen team has fun with textures, flavors and cooking techniques, to create dishes that are each more original than the next. It offers modern and daring cuisine, in an out-of-the-ordinary setting (the restaurant has taken up residence in the former textile factory on Place Paton). Halfway between local cuisine and molecular cuisine, Antidote FoodLab’s dishes are inventive, and they are always presented with a touch of originality.
The Westley
The Westley is a friendly bar and bistro that combines: bistronomy, festive atmosphere and wine list. The warm place brings together a team of catering enthusiasts. The menu, which changes with the seasons, is divided into three sections: vegetables, meat and fish. It invites us to share and discover several dishes, according to our desires and our hunger.
The Footprint
This micro restaurant in downtown Sherbrooke offers a menu of market cuisine. The latter brings together the freshest products and ingredients in a menu that changes with the seasons. The wine list also offers the best products available. At L’Empreinte, sit down at one of the 24 seats to watch the kitchen team, or talk wine with the dining room team in a most intimate atmosphere. It’s like staying with friends.
Boefish
The Boefish is a festive restaurant that showcases land and sea products. The decor is chic and modern, halfway between a restaurant and a nightclub. Around the lively central bar, we share aged steaks, high-quality cuts of meat, oysters and other seafood platters, or even the fish of the day. The atmosphere, led by a DJ on the busiest evenings, is very festive.
The Rowdy
Le Tapageur bistro is a tapas bar and a wine bar that offers gourmet dishes in tapas formats to share. There is also a wide selection of wines by the glass, to taste as much “juice” as possible. We love the warm location on rue King Ouest, where a pretty terrace welcomes us in season. The atmosphere is relaxed, and you never get bored with the Tapageur team, who rarely take themselves seriously, except in the kitchen!
